KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Derek J. Donegan, MD, MBA, spoke about periprosthetic fractures around total knee arthroplasty implants on the femoral side.

He said orthopedic surgeons need to understand poor bone quality challenges, density of fixation and the combination of implants that allow for optimal fixation, immediate weight-bearing and the ability to mobilize patients for quicker recovery.

“It was nice to see other people’s perspectives and understand how the implants have changed and how the technology is evolving to allow us to better take care of these patients now and in the future,” he said.
