KOLOA, Hawaii — In this video from Orthopedics Today Hawaii, Pamela J. Lund, MD, discussed controversies, challenges and new technologies in imaging of patients with meniscal and cartilage defects.

“We talked about meniscal root lesions, medially and laterally, as well as ramp lesions, which are the posterior horn medial meniscal tears often associated with ACL injuries. [There are] certainly some challenges in terms of MRI for those particular problems,” she said. “[We] also talked about the postoperative articular cartilage, which can be a particular challenge with imaging, [and] a little bit about the qualitative imaging of cartilage [and] the T2 mapping,” Lund added.

“There is always going to be controversy, but every time I come to this meeting, we tend to get closer to reaching a consensus on some of these challenging problems that your patients face,” Lund concluded.
