NEW ORLEANS — The EVO ICL has improved its safety profile with the introduction of the central 360-µm port, according to Nicholas J. Bruns, OD, FAAO.
“There were always concerns about safety with the previous version, and we did see that occasionally, but the introduction of the central port has really all but eliminated all of those safety concerns,” Bruns, director of practice development at Summit Eye Care in Milwaukee, said at Academy ’23. “If you actually look at the data, the incidence of angle closure, the incidence of cataract formation prematurely is almost zero, so it’s just something that has been a total game-changer for our practice.”
Bruns continued, “Even our low to moderate myopes find a lot of benefit in ICL.”
