At this year’s Vision Expo East, Justin A. Schweitzer, OD, FAAO, provided an overview of upcoming drug-delivery systems for glaucoma and their potential to help patients with compliance.

“Unfortunately, our glaucoma patients do suffer from a variety of different things when they’re on multiple glaucoma medications — not only ocular surface disease, but also the burden of taking the medications,” Schweitzer said. “I do think glaucoma drug delivery is going to serve a purpose in decreasing that medication burden for our patients. It may not rid them completely of medications, but it can decrease that burden to a degree.”
