In this exclusive video, Andrew Allegretti, MD, MSc, from Massachusetts General Hospital, discusses his poster from The Liver Meeting Digital Experience on hepatorenal syndrome and acute kidney injury in patients with liver disease.

Using data from a cohort of more than 54,000 patients, Allegretti and colleagues explored the impact of hepatorenal syndrome in the United States and compared it with the impact of acute kidney injury in patients with liver disease. Patients with hepatorenal syndrome had higher in-hospital mortality rates and longer average hospital length of stay.
