The nonprofit organization PSC Partners Seeking a Cure announced a partnership with Komodo Health to develop improved patient care for those with primary sclerosing cholangitis, according to a press release.

“As an organization advocating for patients and caregivers impacted by primary sclerosing cholangitis, we are excited to be working with Komodo Health, because we are eager to expand our outreach and increase our exposure to better serve our community,” Ricky Safer, CEO of PSC Partners, said in the release. “We anticipate that Komodo Health’s platform will enable us to make great strides in our search for improved treatments, and, eventually, a cure for PSC.”

With access to data from Komodo Health’s health care map and analytics platform, PSC Partners plans to improve patient care by analyzing referral patterns and patient flow across systems of care.

The organization also plans to track the adoption of the new PSC ICD-10 code (K83.01) throughout U.S. centers. PSC Partners spoke with Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease at the Liver Meeting 2018 regarding the new code, approved by the CDC in early 2018 to set apart PSC from several other cholangitis indications.

“Patient advocacy groups like PSC Partners play a unique role in meeting the needs of patients with devastating diseases,” Web Sun, co-founder and president of Komodo Health, said in the release. “We’re excited to work with such an esteemed organization to help PSC patients and their care teams have a more complete understanding of symptoms and disease progression.”
