SAN FRANCISCO — Starting this weekend, Healio Gastroenterology and Liver Disease will provide live coverage from The Liver Meeting 2018.

The meeting will feature a comprehensive program highlighting the latest developments in clinical hepatology, practice management guidance, and industry pipeline updates.

The meeting will feature the Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Surgery State-of-the-Art Lecture presented by Julie K. Heimbach, MD, from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., focused on treatment recommendations according to the updated AASLD hepatocellular carcinoma guidelines, indications and anticipated outcomes following liver transplantation for HCC and cholangiocarcinoma, and future challenges in liver transplantation.

Additionally, this year’s President’s Choice Lecture presented by Tom H. Karlsen, MD, PhD, from the Oslo University Hospital, will focus on defining personalized medicine, identifying current applications for personalized medicine in hepatology, and understanding limitations and future opportunities for large-scale technologies in clinical hepatology.

Other program highlights include:

  • Viral hepatitis treatments including hepatitis C treatments from around the world and novel hepatitis B therapies;
  • Health care delivery, access and quality focused on cirrhosis hospital readmissions and end-stage liver disease;
  • Newest advancements in imaging and measurement of fatty liver disease progress and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis; and
  • The changing liver transplantation landscape including improved pediatric transplantation and changing indications following obesity trends.
