Healio.com/Hepatology will offer live coverage from the 51st annual International Liver Congress beginning Wednesday.
The conference — held April 13 to April 17 in Barcelona, Spain — will feature experts speaking on critical topics within hepatology. Key research will include: management of liver tumors, advances in the growing field of ‘gut-liver axis’, novel approaches for curing hepatitis B virus infection, and animated debates/workshops on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and cirrhosis, among other research, according to the ILC website.

“Whether you are a young investigator, clinician, basic scientist, nurse, or a researcher, you will get the latest data in your specialty, and can broaden your horizons in hepatology at the ILC 2016,” Laurent Castera, MD, PhD, EASL secretary-general, and Tom Hemming-Karlsen, MD, PhD, EASL vice-secretary, said in a welcome message on the EASL website.

More than 10,800 hepatologists and health care professionals from around the world attended the ILC 2015 in Vienna, Austria, according to the ILC website, and more are expected to attend this year to hear the latest research presented in unique state-of-the-art lectures, symposiums and other mediums.
HCV Next Editorial Board members will be in attendance including: Paul Kwo, MD, who will present a late breaking abstract of results from a study investigating ABT-493 and ABT-530 for patients with HCV genotype 3 and cirrhosis; Catherine Frenette, MD, who will present a late breaking abstract of results from a study investigating the use of Emricasan in patients with cirrhosis; and Michael Charlton, MD, FRCP who will present results from resistance analyses from the SOLAR I- and II studies. – by Melinda Stevens
