Annual Liver Meeting begins this weekend
Healio.com will present live coverage of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases’ annual Liver Meeting running through Tuesday in Washington.
The conference will feature scientific sessions on transplants, real-world experience with hepatitis C therapeutics, complications of cirrhosis, new and emerging HCV therapeutics, translational advances in HCV, and pathogenesis and treatment of liver cancer, among other topics. In addition, there will be a presidential plenary session on viral hepatitis.
Other featured presentations will include the Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Surgery State-of-the-Art Lecture, presented by Anthony Atala, MD, director of Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and urology chair at Wake Forest School of Medicine, on regenerative medicine and new approaches to health care. Nobel laureate Bruce A. Beutler, MD, regental professor and director of the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at UT Southwestern Medical Center, will present the president’s choice lecture on random germline mutagenesis in the analysis of immunity.
Additional sessions will address topics, including cholesterol and bile acid metabolism, experimental research in pediatric hepatology, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis diagnosis and treatment, macrophages and immunity in alcoholic liver disease/regeneration and health care quality and cost effectiveness.
