VIDEO: Recent advancements in endometrial cancer

Dr. Emma Rossi originates from Brisbane, Australia where she completed her medical school training at the University of Queensland. She graduated from an OBGYN residency at Northwestern University, followed by a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Rossi then served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University returning to the University of North Carolina in 2015 where she became tenured faculty and Associate Professor with the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology before transitioning to the faculty at Duke University in the fall of 2023.

Dr. Rossi has research and clinical interest and expertise in the minimally invasive surgical management of gynecologic cancers, with particular focus on robotic surgery and the development of novel techniques in sentinel lymph node mapping for endometrial and cervical cancers. She led the FIRES trial as the principle investigator. This practice-changing trial provided definitive evidence regarding the accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy for endometrial cancer staging, now considered standard of care. Dr. Rossi has served as an invited speaker nationally and internationally in robotic surgery, gynecologic oncology and novel surgical techniques.
