VIDEO: Impact of COVID-19 pandemic in oncology

In this video, Cardinale B. Smith, MD, PhD, director of quality for cancer services at Mount Sinai Health System, highlighted what oncologists have learned from managing patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

At this year’s Chemotherapy Foundation Symposium, Smith participated in the “COVID-19 Panel Discussion: Experiences and Lessons Learned in Oncology.” She underscored the impact of the pandemic on patients with lung cancer.

“We’re still trying to figure out what the associated risk is,” she said, underscoring that some evidence has suggested that patients with lung cancer may be at a higher risk for mortality from COVID-19.
