LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In this video, Aikaterini (Katherine) Anagnostou, MD, PhD, FACAAI, shares key takeaways from the International Food Allergy Symposium of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting.
All areas of food allergy were explored during the 1-day symposium, Anagnostou said, including prevention, diagnostics and therapies.
Highlights included an “intense debate” on the value of screening infants prior to early food introduction; the use of emollient therapy for high-risk infants; the role of component-resolved diagnostics in daily practice; and data on future treatments such as epicutaneous immunotherapy, sublingual immunotherapy, fecal microbiota transplantation and biologics, among other highlights.
Anagnostou is professor of pediatric allergy at Baylor College of Medicine and director of the Food Immunotherapy Program and co-director of the Food Allergy Program at Texas Children’s Hospital.
