Perritt: What is one thing that you want providers to consider when counseling their patients about birth control for the first time? What would you want them to think about or talk about? How do you want us to show up for you?

Nardi: No. 1, knowing that it is very intimidating, and I’m now 35, so I obviously am not the 18-year-old that went and was like, ah, but it still, to this day, is intimidating. And that sometimes we do read and see a lot of information that we’re almost embarrassed to bring up, because we know we might not make a lot of sense medically. So kind of opening that door to quickly letting us know like, hey, I know there’s some crazy information out there, but kind of seeing where the patient is at so we can, so you can understand what our knowledge could be because maybe some patients are very knowledgeable, and they know everything. So kind of knowing where they are.

Perritt: That’s so important, right? And that is what the job is. That’s why we’re there. We’re supposed to be there not to direct, but to support people in making the decisions that are best for them in the way that makes the most sense. It is really hard to do that when the power dynamic is so vast, and so to expect someone to be able to cross it can be tough. So thank you so much for sharing your advice with us as health care professionals, and also really being open to sharing information to folks who are consuming it in very different ways. So really appreciate being here with you. Thank you so much.

Nardi: Thank you.
