In this video, Jeffrey A. Sparks, MD, MMSc, associate physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital, explained findings from a study exploring metabolic issues and rheumatoid arthritis.
The study, which was presented at ACR 2020, aimed to “quantify hepatic steatosis,” according to Sparks, who is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
“It does seem it’s possible that RA could actually have metabolic consequences that could put patients at risk for liver damage,” he said.
