Currently there are three options, sort of depending on age. So the, you know, the mRNA vaccines by Moderna and Pfizer are both available down to six months of age and the updated '23, '24 vaccine is what's recommended for completion of that series, starting at six months of life.
If someone's already had that series, they're encouraged to get at least one dose of this vaccine this season or this fall, although with the caveat that we don't necessarily know of a season of COVID, this is sort of trying to predict and approach this in an annual way, but it remains to be seen whether that will work.
There is also the action of Novavax, which is a non mRNA recombinant protein, more traditional type of vaccine that is available for children 12 and up and that is also updated with the most recent strains that have been circulating and can be used in young pre-teen and adolescent populations.
