CHICAGO — In this video, William N. Levine, MD, talks about the Academic Orthopaedic Consortium Business and Leadership Symposium.
He said the annual meeting brings together like-minded orthopedic surgeons – chairs, vice chairs and division chiefs – with administrative teams and other orthopedic leaders to address the same problems in academic medicine.
“I think what it allows people to do is recognize that you might not be as much in a silo as you think. In other words, every problem we are facing in the country right now with health care – whether it be residency education, unionization potential, decreased margins in our health care systems, difficulty hiring staff or staff requiring increased salaries – and how do we make all this work. It is really a challenging time.”
