Key takeaways:

  • Clinical autonomy remains with physicians after the closing of a private equity transaction.
  • Private equity platforms do not want physicians to change certain aspects of the practice.

In this video, Gary W. Herschman, JD, discusses the life of a practice after the closing of a private equity transaction.

“I worked with dozens of groups over the last 5 years on transactions with private equity and a lot of times, groups are nervous about private equity,” Herschman, an attorney in the health care and life sciences practice of Epstein Becker Green, told Healio.

He continued, “I think nowadays more groups are at least willing to listen and consider [private equity] as an option, see what’s being proposed, who the people are [and] what their vision is before they decide whether or not it’s right for them.”
