WASHINGTON — The partnership between an optometrist and surgeon is essential to successfully managing patients with keratoconus who undergo corneal collagen crosslinking, a presenter said at Optometry’s Meeting.

In this Healio video, Susan J. Gromacki, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS, director of contact lens services at First Sight Vision Care in Fulton, Maryland, shares highlights from a presentation she and Jonathan Etter, MD, FAAO, an ophthalmologist at Physicians Eye Care & Laser Center, gave at the meeting.

Gromacki explained that the partnership between ODs and MDs is critical to ensure a successful patient outcome, from diagnosis of keratoconus to perioperative care to recommendations on maximizing postoperative vision.

“We as optometrists and ophthalmologists can partner together to really help our patients with keratoconus to see better and live their best lives,” she said.
