NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A lipid-containing eye drop not only was shown to be noninferior to non-lipid-containing drops but it also improved patients’ dry eye signs and symptoms, according to a study presented at Optometry’s Meeting.
“There’s a concern that whenever we add a lipid to an artificial tear it may improve comfort, but it may impact vision,” Jade Coats, OD, of McDonald Eye Associates in Rogers, Arkansas, said in this Healio video.
The study showed a decrease in dryness-related ocular symptoms, an increase in tear breakup time and a decrease in slit-lamp findings with the lipid nano-emulsion artificial tear.
“Lipid-containing eye drops are beneficial for our patients,” Coats said.
