VIDEO: Incorporate clinical trials to further ophthalmic career
ORLANDO — In this Healio Video Perspective from Telling It Like It Is, Cynthia Matossian, MD, FACS, shared pearls for ophthalmologists who want to take part in clinical trials.
In addition to making sure a practice has the appropriate space and level of commitment among staff, Matossian highlighted the need for a clinical trials coordinator.
“Often, they are very hard to find, so these are technicians who have been with you a long time,” she said. “Perhaps they are looking to spread their wings and add on additional skill sets, and you can help them train to become a clinical studies coordinator.”
Matossian also discussed the positive impact that clinical studies can have on an ophthalmologist’s career, such as building relationships with industry and increasing the opportunity to become a key opinion leader.
