FRANKFURT, Germany — In this Healio Video Perspective from the ESCRS winter meeting, Marie-José Tassignon, MD, PhD, speaks about a new ESCRS registry and invites colleagues to collaborate.

The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons has a long history of creating registries, starting in 2007 with EUREQUO, the European Registry of Quality Outcomes for Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and then moving on to ECCTR, the European Cornea and Cell Transplantation Registry. The purpose is to collect a large amount of data to improve the quality of ophthalmic care and surgical procedures.

A new area where ESCRS wants to expand is rare diseases, and the first is pediatric cataract, Tassignon said. She invited colleagues to visit the ESCRS website, click on the Research and Registries box, and then click on EuReCCA to sign in for the European Registry for Childhood Cataract.

“Please work with us — collaborate with us as much as possible,” she said. “Thank you very much in advance if you are interested. Don’t hesitate to look at the website and give your intention of interest so that we can contact you and give you more information.”
