“The actual diagnosis and documentation of geographic atrophy has not been extremely accurate in clinical records,” she said. “This is why at Verana Health, we really launched into this research topic of geographic atrophy using both the EHR data we have in the IRIS Registry as well as the ophthalmic images we have in the IRIS Registry powered by machine learning and AI.”
