VILAMOURA, Portugal — At the ESCRS winter meeting, Matteo Forlini, MD, presents the new model of the Carlevale IOL from MD TECH for sutureless scleral fixation.

Enhanced features include stronger plugs to prevent extrusion, a new UV filter to protect the retina, and a new material to avoid opacification in case of contact with silicone oil or gas tamponade.

“This lens is very useful to manage aphakia in cases of trauma or complications of cataract surgery,” Forlini said. “In combination with iridoplasty, it can help manage a lot of traumatic scenarios.”
