VIDEO: Sleep, circadian rhythms may contribute to ‘seizure propagation network’
In this Healio video, Robert C. Stowe, MD, an instructor of neurology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, discusses a new perspective on how sleep and circadian rhythms influence seizures.
The inherent driving mechanisms that encourage sleep may be a part of the “seizure propagation network,” Stowe said.
“It really turns your perspective on its head because that’s not what we’d expect; we’d expect these homeostatic processes to be normal and not be involved in these pathologic processes,” he said.
