BOSTON — Transcranial direct current stimulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex increased activation of the area and improved self-reported fatigue in patients with MS, Giuseppina Pilloni, PhD, says in this Healio video.
Speaking at the American Academy of Neurology annual meeting, Pilloni, a research assistant professor in the department of neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, said, “The [dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)] is one potential key hub of cognitive fatigue in people with MS.”
After transcranial direct current stimulation was delivered to the DLPFC, patients reported a decrease in fatigue and completed a clinical standard cognitive assessment faster, she said.
