Samsung Electronics health care subsidiary NeuroLogica Corp. announced it has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its BodyTom 64, a mobile head-to-toe CT scanner that can be used for a variety of health care needs.

“We’re thrilled to build off our expertise and elevate point-of-care imaging with our BodyTom 64, which can transform any room in a hospital into an advanced imaging suite,” Jason Koshnitsky, senior director of global sales and marketing at NeuroLogica, said in a press release from the company.

NeuroLogica designed the BodyTom 64 to enhance user experience and improve clinical workflows through revisions to the software and data acquisition system of the BodyTomElite CT scanner, according to the release. Among notable updates is the new device’s ability to generate up to 64 cross-sectional CT images of a patient’s body, compared with 32 images in the previous model.

The BodyTom 64 can be combined with any radiolucent skull fixation device and used intraoperatively to elevate neuro-navigation and surgical outcomes, the company stated. It also can be used in trauma bays and the ER and for interventional radiology.
