Importance of increased education and awareness

- what factors may contribute to worse outcomes for skin cancer in people of color;
- misconceptions about the risk for skin cancers in patients with more darkly pigmented skin;
- lack of awareness of how skin cancers may present in patients with darker vs. lighter skin;
- the need for increased education for patients and providers on recognizing signs of skin cancer in all patients; and
- the importance of breaking down barriers in healthcare.
