Skin cancer is “the most common form of cancer” in the United States and throughout much of the developed world, according to Vernon Sondak, MD, chair of the Cutaneous Oncology Department at the Moffitt Cancer Center and Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Distinguished Endowed Chair in Cutaneous Oncology.
In this video, Sondak discusses:
- the various types of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma;
- considerations for diagnosis and treatment of melanoma vs. nonmelanoma skin cancers; and
- the importance of protection from UV exposure as well as research into use of drug treatments for skin cancer prevention.
