In this video, Priya J. Bansal, MD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, introduces Healio’s Women in Allergy and the video corner, where she will share regular pearls, advice and updates.

Bansal, serving as consulting medical editor of Healio’s Women in Allergy, plans to collaborate with Healio to showcase advances in the field of allergy/immunology. Bansal also is an allergist and immunologist at the Asthma and Allergy Wellness Center in Saint Charles, Illinois, and a faculty member at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine

“I wanted to ... bring forward concerns specifically in women’s health ,” Bansal said. “We definitely know that there are sex and gender differences in the development of allergic disease.”

In addition to known differences regarding asthma symptomatology and drug hypersensitivity, there are also differences that may occur during puberty, pregnancy and perimenopause, Bansal added.

“This would be an opportunity for all of us to showcase some of the differences that we are seeing in allergy and immunology in women,” she said.

Healio’s Women in Allergy also aims to provide a means to connect and network with women in the field, as well as to address their career concerns.

“We look forward to all we uncover and delve into along this journey, and really look forward to all of your participation and feedback,” Bansal said.
