VIDEO: Health care cyberattack threat ‘something we really need to think about’
In this Healio video exclusive, Leonard H. Calabrese, DO, chief medical editor of Healio Rheumatology, outlines the December issue’s top stories, including an in-depth feature on how practices can handle the rising threat of cyberattacks.
“I want to tell you, coming from a global enterprise like the Cleveland Clinic, this is the real deal,” said Calabrese, professor of medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, at Case Western Reserve University, and RJ Fasenmyer chair of clinical immunology at the Cleveland Clinic. “I think it’s something we need to really think about and work on.”
The story explains the critical importance of health care organizations preparing for hacks and features insights from a panel of experts in cybersecurity and digital health.
This month’s issue also explores the “proliferation of specialty pharmacies to meet the growing needs of biologics,” Calabrese said, adding he “actually learned a lot” from the story.
Calabrese noted that another big story in the December issue touches on a topic close to his heart — connections between the brain and the immune system.
The article, which reports the results of a scoping review, is “a really nice discussion about traumatic stress creating a feedback loop that perpetuates, if not instigates, autoimmune disease,” he said.
“It’s a great issue,” Calabrese concluded. “Come and join us. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.”
