Healio spoke with Matthew Lewis, MD, about the risk for psoriatic arthritis in patients with psoriasis.

“Prevention maybe should be, but isn’t the focus of our role in dermatology,” Lewis, a clinical associate professor of dermatology at Stanford University, told Healio. “But that being said, really for whether it’s osteoarthritis or psoriatic arthritis, maintaining a healthy body weight has been shown to be the most effective thing at reducing the risk for arthritis, and that is easier said than done, but is very important.”
