Immune-mediated inflammatory disease (IMID) is a group of clinically heterogeneous disorders that share common immunopathology. The continued evaluation and refinement of biologic therapies in the treatment of IMID have provided significant benefit to patients suffering from these disorders. However, recognizing the underlying immunopathological mechanisms of IMID is essential for understanding how current and emerging biologics exert their effects. In this CME educational activity, held during the Association of Women in Rheumatology National Conference, experts in the field will review and discuss the immunological pathways that regulate the activity of the immune system in IMID.

Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this educational activity, participants will be better able to:
- Assess immunological targets of available and emerging immune-based therapies.
- Review the underlying principles of immunity and inflammation as they contribute to the immunopathology of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) such as rheumatoid arthritis.
- Select treatment for patients with IMID based on the latest clinical evidence, as well as patient characteristics and prognosis.
