The members of the House of Representatives approved a budget resolution Friday by a vote of 227-198. The budget resolution approval was the first step for the Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

This approved budget resolution puts into motion the possibility of a repeal of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

The vote came a day after members of the U.S. Senate approved the budget blueprint by a vote of 51-48.

The resolution will allow Republicans to use a process known as “budget reconciliation,” which will allow the rollback of major facts of the national healthcare plan. This was the same process used 7 years ago to put the ACA in place, according to reports from CNN.

The Republicans set a deadline of Jan. 27 for an actual vote on the repeal of the ACA.
