PHILADELPHIA — Roland Kolbeck, vice president of research and development for Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity at MedImmune, spoke with Healio Rheumatology about the company’s collaborations with academic institutions.
Kolbeck mentioned how MedImmune’s partnerships with academic institutions led to the discoveries that the interleukin-33 cytokine is expressed in the lungs of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), that immunoglobulin E binds to immune complexes in patients with lupus and that the innate lymphoid cell produces different types of cytokines from other cells in patients with COPD.
