The CMS appointed Alex Limanni, MD, FACR, to its Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act Episode Based Resource Use Measures Clinical Committee to provide input as CMS develops its episode-based resource use measures for the new Merit-Based Incentive Payment System.
As a member of the committee, Limanni will help define episode triggers and windows for care episode and patient condition groups while also providing input on the algorithm for episode grouping and approach to measure development, according to a press release from the American College of Rheumatology (ACR). The release noted Limanni, who was nominated by the ACR, has demonstrated expertise while serving as co-chair of the ACR Quality Measures Subcommittee where he managed ACR measure development and testing projects to improve clinical care for rheumatology patients and help rheumatology providers comply with reporting requirements.
“We are pleased to hear that Dr. Limanni was chosen to aid CMS in what will surely be a very complex endeavor,” Joan Von Feldt, MD, MSEd, president of the ACR, said in the release. “He has made great contributions to the practice of rheumatology, and the committee will be well-served by his expertise in developing effective measures of quality patient care.”
