The Osteoarthritis Research Society International will hold its 20th Annual World Congress in Seattle from April 30 through May 3, and Healio.com/Rheumatology will present live coverage on April 30 and May 1 before heading to the American College of Rheumatology State-of-the-Art Symposium in Chicago.
More than 1,200 scientists, clinicians, rheumatologists, orthopedists, radiologists and others are expected to attend the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) Congress and discuss research highlights in osteoarthritis (OA).
“The World Congress brings together professionals who can expand their networks, discuss industry trends, and understand new technologies and research in the OA field,” OARSI president, Virginia Byers Kraus, MD, PhD, said in a press release. “Attendees will learn and network with some of the best and most-informed professionals in the industry.”
The program features six plenary sessions, 14 concurrent sessions and six breakfast workshops, in addition to more oral presentations and abstracts than have been presented in the past. Credits for CME are available by registration, and a forum for young investigators has also been established.
On Saturday, May 2, a debate entitled, “Should OA research focus on mice or men?” will be held. Chris Little, PhD, will debate for mice and David Hunter, MBBS, PhD, FRACP, will debate in favor of studying OA in humans.
“The annual OARSI meeting is the scientific event in the OA research field. It is unique in terms of the many disciplines that are present, which enables broad discussions from very clinical to highly basic science, all in the field of OA,” Margreet Kloppenburg, MD, OARSI World Congress chair, said in the release. “This year's meeting is an excellent illustration of the multidisciplinary character of OA research and the opportunities this gives.”
