‘U.S. News & World Report’ ranks Johns Hopkins best hospital for rheumatology
Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore was ranked the nation’s best hospital for challenging cases and procedures by U.S. News & World Report based on surveys from rheumatology specialists.
Johns Hopkins also was the No. 1-ranked overall hospital in the country in ratings that included 18 hospitals. The rankings covered nearly 5,000 US medical centers and included 16 medical specialties. There were 147 hospitals receiving a ranking in at least one specialty.
At least 5% of rheumatology specialists who responded to U.S. News surveys in 2011-2013 ranked 17 hospitals in the rheumatology category, according to a news release. One hundred eighteen other hospitals received nominations from at least one physician in the rheumatology category.
Johns Hopkins received a reputation score of 55.1% for rheumatology. Cleveland Clinic was ranked second with a 50% reputation score, and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., was third (39.9%).
Rounding out the top 10 ranked hospitals for rheumatology were: Hospital for Special Surgery, New York; Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston; Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston; Hospital for Joint Diseases, New York; UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles; University of Pittsburgh Medical Center; and UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco.
