According to a press release, Andrew J. Sheean, MD, LTC, USAF, MC, FS, an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon at Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston, received the $200,000 grant for his study on mental health and clinical outcomes after ACL reconstruction.
The grant is a collaboration between AANA, AOSSM and the Society for Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. It was developed and funded by the AANA Military Advanced Surgical Training Program with support from John M. Tokish, MD, orthopedic surgeon, colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves and current AANA president.
The grant is presented to a researcher whose work advances orthopedic treatments and techniques with special focus on the military and general populations, according to the release.
