AAOS issues statement on impending Medicare physician payment cuts in 2023

The American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons has issued a follow-up statement to Congress on the recently released omnibus package, which proposes payment cuts for Medicare physicians in 2023, according to a press release.

“AAOS is extremely disappointed that Congress failed to fully address the impending cuts to Medicare physician payment,” Felix H. Savoie III, MD, FAAOS, president of AAOS, said in the statement. “In choosing to allow payment reductions year after year, and to the leaders of health care teams nonetheless, Congress is worsening a system that is already broken and threatening seniors' access to care. The AAOS is calling on congressional leadership one final time to do the right thing and stop these cuts in their entirety – our members, their patients and the entire physician community depend on it,” he added.
