NFL Alumni Association, Pacira BioSciences partner for education on opioid alternatives
The National Football League Alumni Association and Pacira BioSciences Inc. have announced a partnership that will provide education to athletes and communities about non-opioid pain management options, according to a press release.
The program, which is set to launch in the fall of 2022, will provide education through newsletters, social media channels and corporate meetings to several audiences including retired players, National Football League Alumni Association (NFLA) chapter presidents and staff, as well as various youth sports organizations. The program will pitch the importance of non-opioid pain management options.
“I have firsthand personal knowledge of the value our partnership with Pacira BioSciences will bring to our members,” Beasley Reese, CEO of the NFLA, said in the release. “Pacira Biosciences’ products dramatically reduced the amount of pain my wife Paula experienced when she underwent knee replacement surgery. She used fewer dangerous narcotics and experienced less pain while going through that difficult operation and rehabilitation. Her knee was still numb 2 months after a pain block procedure, and she was able to rehab harder and faster because of Pacira Biosciences’ products. Opioids can have terrible side effects, and NFL Alumni members will use fewer dangerous drugs and have better outcomes thanks to this partnership,” Reese added.
