In this video, Gregory L. Cvetanovich, MD, and colleagues perform sternoclavicular joint reconstruction in a 19-year-old right hand-dominant man with pain and anterior sternoclavicular instability.
After the sternoclavicular joint is debrided and the hamstring autograft is harvested, 4.5-mm bone tunnels are drilled. These are widened as needed to pass the hamstring autograft more easily.
Free sutures are shown being passed through the clavicle and sternal tunnels to assist the double passage of the autograft.
After final passage of the autograft hamstring, which is done in a special configuration, the autograft is secured and locked in position with several #2 reinforced sutures.
