Welcome to the premier issue of Spine Surgery Today — the only newspaper dedicated to spine surgery. We intend this newspaper to be the definitive information source for physicians who treat spine or conduct research related to spine.

Published 6 times a year, the newspaper will reach more than 8,000 U.S. physicians with a multidisciplinary platform serving as a primary news and information source for spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. Readers will also have free access to daily spine news at Healio.com/Spine — the online home of Spine Surgery Today.

The mission of the publication is to deliver timely, authoritative and balanced reports on clinical issues, socioeconomic topics and spine industry developments. Spine Surgery Today will present clinically relevant information on the surgical techniques, products, therapies, procedures and technologies used in spine surgery. With a reporting style designed to develop a deeper connection with readers, this newspaper will engage readers’ interest while presenting the news in a time-saving format. Each issue will present original reporting and expert analysis putting the news in perspective for the readers’ practice.

To improve the specialty and cross-specialty communication and dialogue, Spine Surgery Today is open to comment and perspective from you, our readers, in an unprecedented manner. We will solicit alternative physician opinions to many of our articles – we call those Perspectives. But we do not want opinion and dialogue to end there. Contact us with differences of opinion or another way to look at a study or unique clinical perspective. We want your voice heard – and read.

We are excited about the launch of Spine Surgery Today, because of the need for a single multispecialty news source for both spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. Spine Surgery Today fills this unique information niche and will blend different medical backgrounds and their unique contributions to spine surgery. As a result, we have assembled an outstanding group of editorial board members to mirror the diversity and expertise of this highly specialized community.

We want to hear from our readers. Please send your comments and suggestions about how we can better shape the publication for today’s spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. If you have an alternate point of view, please send us your letters to the editor. Also, if you are interested in contributing to the publication or have ideas for future editorial coverage, then please email us at spine@healio.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
