VIDEO: Optimize choroid imaging to improve diagnosis
Jim Williamson, OD, FAAO, FORS, provided an overview of his SECO presentation that focused on evaluating the choroid and differentiating between diseases caused by age-related macular degeneration to those in the pachychoroid spectrum.
“Make sure you’re not misdiagnosing your AMD patients,” Williamson said, as part of his take-home message. “I’ve seen patients come in time and time again with pigmentary changes that fit the age and race criteria for having age-related macular degeneration, but when you look at the choroid ... they don’t have macular degeneration and don’t need to be on these supplements.”
