VIDEO: Many reasons to consider Dextenza after intraocular surgery
ORLANDO — In this Healio Video Perspective from Telling It Like It Is, Steven M. Silverstein, MD, FACS, discusses the positive impact of Dextenza on inflammation after intraocular surgery.
Dextenza (dexamethasone ophthalmic insert 0.4 mg, Ocular Therapeutix) is an option after any intraocular surgery, including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and corneal surgery, Silverstein said. The implant is designed to elute dexamethasone continuously for about 30 days.
In addition, coverage for Dextenza is “robust,” according to Silverstein.
“I can tell you unequivocally that the product works,” he said. “It’s very comfortable for the patient, and it’s super easy for the doctor.”
