SEATTLE — In this video, Eleonora M. Lad, MD, PhD, vice chair of ophthalmology clinical research at Duke Health, discusses a presentation at the ARVO meeting on retinal pigment epithelium cells in age-related macular degeneration.

In the presentation, Jason Miller, MD, PhD, discussed the role of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, which create distinct lipid droplet populations in patients with AMD, Lad said.

“They are hypothesizing that certain drugs can affect different types of lipids to impact disease progression. I thought that was very interesting,” Lad said.
