Viz.ai introduces AI-powered cerebral aneurysm detection platform

AI-powered intelligent care coordination company Viz.ai introduced its cerebral aneurysm detection platform at the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology annual meeting.
According to a press release, the platform, Viz ANX, is designed to aid quick identification of patients with a cerebral aneurysm so they can receive the correct follow-up treatments to prevent a serious rupture or hemorrhage.
The new technology uses AI to detect and alert care providers of newly identified aneurysms on CT angiography. The 510(k)-pending Viz ANX algorithm aims to capture aneurysms in an easily accessible and reviewable list for easy referrals to clinics.
The company also introduced Viz SDH, a research-only algorithm that provides support to the ongoing EMBOLISE trial, which is being undertaken to evaluate the safety and efficacy of embolization of the middle meningeal artery using a liquid embolic system for treatment of subacute or chronic subdural hematoma.
“We know that the Viz platform is widely successful at leveraging AI to help improve workflows and improve patient outcomes in stroke,” Ameer Hassan, DO, head of neuroscience and Valley Baptist Medical Center in Texas and president elect of the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, said in the release. “But stroke is just a proof point for how AI can transform patient care and clinical research. By applying the same technology to indications such as aneurysm, I believe we will see further areas of health care transformed for better outcomes.”
More than 850 hospitals across the U.S. and Europe currently use the Viz platform.
