ORLANDO — In this video exclusive, James R. Gavin III, MD, PhD, Healio | Endocrine Today co-editor, talks with Edward C. Chao, DO, about the importance of not worsening disparities with the implementation of AI in diabetes care.
Gavin is chief medical officer at Healing Our Village and clinical professor at Emory University. Chao is clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
The experts discuss concerns about AI exacerbating existing disparities and the potential use of datasets that are not representative of diverse populations. Chao discusses how the clinician must be heavily involved in supervising what AI is doing with patients.
