The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions announced its 2022 Master Interventionalists of SCAI designations, which will be formally recognized during the SCAI Scientific Sessions in Atlanta on May 21, 2022.

According to an association press release, the Master Interventionalist of SCAI (MSCAI) designation is awarded to those who demonstrated excellence in invasive and/or interventional cardiology during their career and commitment to clinical care, innovation, publication and teaching.

The 2022 MSCAI designations were awarded to the following group of interventionalists:

Deepak L. Bhatt

Cardiology Today Intervention Section Editor Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, executive director of interventional cardiology programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Joaquin E. Cigarro, MD, division head of cardiology, professor of medicine and inaugural recipient of the endowed Judkins Professorship in the division of cardiology at the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at Oregon Health & Science University.

Thomas Fagan, MD, medical director of the pediatric and congenital cardiac catheterization laboratory at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital.

Marc D. Feldman, MD, interventional cardiologist and professor of medicine at the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, Texas.

Tim Fischell, MD, professor of medicine at Michigan State University and medical director of the department of cardiovascular research and director of the interventional cardiology fellowship program at the Borgess Heart Institute in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

C. Michael Gibson

C. Michael Gibson, MD, interventional cardiologist, CV researcher and CEO of the nonprofit Baim and PERFUSE Research Institutes at Harvard Medical School.

Dean J. Kereiakes

Dean J. Kereiakes, MD, president and medical director of The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, medical director of The Christ Hospital Research Institute and professor of clinical medicine at Ohio State University.

Ahmed Magdy, MD, consultant cardiologist for the National Heart Institute in Cairo and is the SCAI international ambassador representing Egypt.

Oscar Mendiz, MD, director of the cardiology and CV surgery institute and chief of interventional cardiology at Favaloro Foundation University Hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Michael Savage

Michael Savage, MD, Ralph J. Roberts Professor of Cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University and director emeritus of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
