The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has appointed Alexandra E. Page, MD, FAAOS, as chair of the AAOS Board of Specialty Societies, according to a press release.

Page, who practices in San Diego with a foot and ankle subspecialty after 16 years at Kaiser Permanente, has held several positions at AAOS. She has served roles in the AAOS Leadership Fellows Program, the AAOS Health Care Systems Committee, the AAOS Board of Specialty Societies (BOS) Communications Committee and the AAOS Nominating Committee. She has served as president of the California Orthopaedic Association, president of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society and chair-elect of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.

According to the release, Page earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a mechanical engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before completing her residency in orthopedic surgery and fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Page assumed the position of chair of the BOS following the AAOS Annual Meeting in Chicago.
