Felix H. ‘Buddy’ Savoie III, MD, FAAOS, appointed president of AAOS

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has announced Felix H. Buddy Savoie III, MD, FAAOS, as its 90th president, according to a press release.

Savoie is the chair of the department of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation, the chief of the division of sports medicine and the Ray J. Haddad Professor of Orthopaedics at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He will serve a 1-year term as president of the AAOS.

“I am honored and humbled to serve as AAOS president,” Savoie said in the release. “I look forward to contributing to the future of orthopedic medicine, leading the charge to preserve patient access to the highest quality orthopedic care and working to overcome barriers to providing the best care for patients in a value-based health care system,” he said.

“Now more than ever, I am proud to be part of the AAOS,” Savoie added. “With vision and perseverance, I look forward to creating a bright future for our members and our patients. Together, we will address the inequities within our specialty and continue to pave the way for the future of musculoskeletal health care.”
